The Moscow – Arkhangelsk railway crosses the district from north to south.

Nyandoma is a large railway station. In the territory of the district, there are paved motorways, which allow movement of freight in all directions.

Water resources

On the territory of the district there are 72 lakes, diverse in origin and area, and 69 rivers. The largest is the Moksha River. The largest lake in terms of area is Lake Nimeng (4 thousand hectares). Thirteen lakes have an area of 30-300 hectares. With an area of more than 300 hectares, there are four lakes: Luzhnoye Island, Bolshoe Moshinskoye Island, Spasskoye Island and Matzero Island, located in the eastern part of the district.
